My Mind is a Dark Hallway

My mind is a dark hallway
Tenebrous. Filled with fears,
Thoughts I believed forgotten
Sorrow locked behind tight doors
Yet if I were to walk down
This hallway, I dread what I'd find.
Iron locks oxidizing from the cool rush of air
Floating aimlessly through the hall.
My mind, protected,
My memories, safe.
But how am I? Cowering,
Behind my safety, afraid to live
Or will I unlock these doors
That hold back my passion
Drives, goals. To find freedom
To be me.
