Bullet

You were like a bullet,
Ripping through my bone,
Shattering all the loneliness,
I had ever known.
Your kindness ricocheted,
Off the walls none had torn apart,
'Til the lock ended broken,
Revealing my tender beating heart.

Worth It

I wonder if it's worth it,
To have loved and lost it all.
To awaken to a quite house,
And wander aimlessly in the hall.
No matter how hard I try to defy it,
The truth is you're never coming home.
Is it worth it?
To pour out my love, my life
And still come up empty?
Your gentle caress and sassy smile
The way you tilt your head
When you're thinking hard.
I never would've had that
Had I not known you.
Was it worth it? To know you,
The pain and the joy?

Hell, yeah.

Relentless

The waves roll in as we crash and burn
Succombing to the irrisitable urge.
Passion, like the rising sun
Stops for no man.
The tides, they rise and fall.
Still the night goes on,
Relentless.
The stars shine bright amidst the night
Constellations, a map to lead the lover,
A guide to the wanderer,
A hope for the weary,
Yet still the earth rolls on,

Relentless.

Loyalty

Loyalty.
So hard to define
Until it is lost.
Simply perceived
Yet hard to keep intact.
It takes every ounce
Of our being
Solely devoted
To the object
Of our loyalty.
Yet betrayal can undue
All we've worked so hard
To keep together.
We live;
We fight;
We die;
Fiercely ready to defend
Those to whom
we've pledged our loyalty.
Loyalty takes:
Courage in the midst of fear,
Integrity to hold true.
Persistance amidst defeat,
Sacrifice in times of triumph.
It asks for everything
And holds nothing back.
Loyalty is worth the price

Single Life

Single life, so weary and yet carefree.
No ties, when all I long for
Are ties to hold to.
My mind works over time
Reading into a glance or smile
Given by the opposite sex.
What is it about me
That makes me hold back?
How will anyone see me
If I don't dare to speak?
Why do I rely on my looks
To catch the mate I seek,
When I what I really want most
Is love based on what is underneath?
Single life, the lonely state
That all in time shall be.

Behind Every Face

Behind every face is a vision
That drives one to dream
Of endless possibilities
Beyond imagination.
Within each heart is a passion
That spurs one to love
Amidst the disappointments
Guaranteed to come.
Beneath every action
Dwells a reason
For whether love or hatred
Resides in their eyes.
Be not hasty to judge
If one be worthy of love
For behind every face
Resides a living soul,
Longing to be understood.
